The way of life is new to us
Though millions before have trod.
But we are safe if we can trust
Its windings lead to God.

Sometimes the way is steep upgrade
Sometimes just plain and long:*
We tire** and sometimes are afraid
Sometimes birds sing sweet songs.

But Christ has been this way before
Whatever may be our lot,
He is ever on before.
Each battle has been fought.

So on and on o’er hill and dale,
The full journey of our life;
We trust that Christ will never fail
In any time of strife.
